Brakes you can count on change how you drive. You stop worrying about the car ahead of you, the wet exit ramp, the kid who steps off the curb without looking. At Retro Auto Works, our ASE certified techs photograph your pads and rotors so you can see the wear yourself before you approve anything, and every brake repair carries a 2-year, 24,000-mile warranty. Bring your car to our Pottstown or Glenside location and we’ll take a look.
Your car usually gives you a heads-up before brakes become urgent, and most of it comes through your ears and your foot.
That high-pitched noise is a wear indicator doing its job. It’s a metal tab built into the pad that touches the rotor when the friction material gets low. Annoying on purpose, and worth acting on while it’s still just noise.
Grinding means the pad is gone and metal is meeting metal. You’ve moved from a pad replacement to a pad and rotor job, and waiting longer can pull calipers into it too.
If the pedal goes farther than it used to, or drifts toward the floor while you’re stopped at a light, that usually points to brake fluid or a leak in the hydraulic system rather than the pads.
A car that pulls to one side when you brake, or a pedal that pulses under your foot, often traces back to a stuck caliper or warped rotors. Sometimes it’s a suspension or steering issue instead, which is why we check both.

Brake work ranges from a routine pad swap to a hydraulic problem that takes some tracing. We handle the whole range at both shops.
The most common brake job there is. We replace pads in axle sets and check rotor thickness and surface condition, so you're not back in six months with a vibration that didn't need to happen.
A caliper that sticks will chew through a new pad fast and pull the car to one side. We check slides, pins, and hardware as part of any brake job rather than treating them as an afterthought.
Fluid absorbs moisture over time, which lowers its boiling point and softens the pedal. We flush it, inspect the lines and hoses, and track down leaks when the pedal tells us there's one.
Brake work is the job people second-guess most, because a worn pad is easy to describe and hard to picture. We’d rather just show you.
Every car that comes in gets a full health and safety check at no charge. Your tech photographs what he finds, including the parts with plenty of life left in them.
You see your own brakes on your own car, with a plain explanation of how much material is left and what happens if it keeps going.
The estimate comes by text or email, itemized. Say yes to the front axle and no to the rest if that’s the call, and nothing gets touched until you do.
Brakes are the one system where doing the job right matters more than doing it cheap, and the credentials behind the work tell you something about how it gets done.
Our technicians are ASE certified, and both shops carry AAA Approved, NAPA AutoCare, and Certified Auto Repair credentials. Honda master techs on staff, with factory-grade tools and software.
Every brake repair is covered by our Confidence Plus warranty on qualifying parts and labor, honored nationwide. If something we installed gives you trouble three states from here, you're still covered.
Pottstown and Glenside, both running the same process and the same standards, so it doesn't matter which side of the county you're closer to.
A few things people ask before they bring the car in.
It depends on what’s worn and which axle. A pad replacement is a different job than pads, rotors, and a stuck caliper. You’ll get an itemized estimate with photos before anything is approved, so you’re never guessing at the total.
Most pad and rotor jobs are a same-day repair. If a caliper or a hydraulic issue is involved, it can run longer depending on parts. We’ll tell you what we’re looking at when we send the estimate.
There’s no single number. Pads wear based on how and where you drive, so stop-and-go traffic eats them faster than highway miles. The free 75-point inspection tracks how much material is left every time you’re in.
Sometimes. It depends on the condition and thickness of the rotors underneath. If they’re within spec, pads alone can be the right call, and we’ll tell you when that’s the case rather than selling you both.
Domestic, Asian, and European vehicles, including brake systems with electronic parking brakes that need a scan tool to service. We have Honda master techs on staff and factory-grade software for the rest.
We do. Most brake jobs are done the same day, but if a caliper or a hydraulic issue turns up, the car might be here longer than you planned. Ask about a loaner when you book and we’ll set one aside.
Retro Auto Works is the best shop for brake repair because you see the wear yourself before you approve a thing. Free 75-point inspection, photos to your phone, an itemized estimate, and a 2-year warranty behind the work.
Hearing a squeal or feeling the pedal go soft? Give us a call and we’ll take a look. You’ll get photos of your own pads and rotors, an itemized estimate you approve line by line, and a 2-year, 24,000-mile warranty on the work. Book at our Pottstown or Glenside shop and we’ll get your brakes sorted.
